Graduating college students are faced with launching their career during one of the most competitive job markets in the last two decades. Not only are jobs sparse and in high demand, but these graduates will be competing head-to-head for entry level positions with seasoned professionals laid off as a result of the economic crisis. While I think that this is a great idea, I happen to see some flaws. It is a great idea to send students to different places in the world to find work and with it can come some extremely memorable and insightful times but what happens when the person comes back to the United States.
Many times when a person takes on an internship they generally wind up taking a job there but what if the person doesn't plan on staying in there internship place, they still have to come back and try to find work.
On the other hand I would find it quite exciting to go over seas to do work. Globalization is up and fastly coming so expanding jobs over the world will in the end help some people find great work. Also I feel that the expansion will open up world travel and make the rest of the world as divere as the United States and that could help out some things.
It might seem risky and scary but it would be a great experience for anyone and hopefully after all that one can come back and find a job they could keep.
i think working overseas is a great opportunity. I don't think it would hurt anyones chances of finding a job. If anything it looks even better on a resume and would make you more hirable. And to tell you the truth i wish the United States was as diverse and open as most countries in Europe, not the other way around.
ReplyDeleteWorking overseas is an incredible opportunity. Granted, when you return to the United States you will have to find a job, but you are learning and gaining experience. This will help you find a job when returning home.
ReplyDeleteI think its a great idea for graduated students to see the world before they settle down into an occupation. An employer is going to be more interested in the applying person than their high school and college GPA's, so students that have graduated that have been so bent on making A's should expand their views on other cultures. In my opinion, seeing how the world really works from the actual location is much more beneficial than reading about it in class.
ReplyDeleteoverseas increase the versatility of a resume. Try blogging without generalizations. Other than that I really enjoyed your topic and easily related to it.
